Medical & Dental Programs

Medical Assisting

Medical assistants play an important role in a variety of healthcare settings. They perform both clinical and clerical duties, often helping take vital signs, record patient histories, and schedule appointments. Our Medical Assisting program in Boise helps get you into the working world quickly, with a certificate of completion attainable in as few as nine months.

Dental Assisting

Dental assistants help hygienists and dentists with routine procedures like passing instruments and sterilizing equipment, and may work to make patients more comfortable as they visit a dental office. Carrington College’s Dental Assisting program in Boise includes classes on anatomy, physiology, and radiography, dental sealants and procedures, as well as front office duties and patient care.

Pharmacy Technology

Pharmacy technicians help pharmacists receive and fulfill prescriptions. Duties related to the daily operation of the pharmacy are often part of the job, such as answering phones, creating prescription labels, maintaining patient profiles and prescription histories, completing cash register transactions, preparing insurance claim forms and inventory tasks. Carrington’s Pharmacy Technology program in Boise provides both theory and practical training, which enables technicians, upon licensure, to function as a competent entry-level assistant to a licensed pharmacist.

Dental Hygiene

During routine office visits, a patient may spend the majority of their time with a dental hygienist. Dental hygienists remove plaque and tartar, polish teeth, and help train patients on good oral health. Students in the Carrington College Dental Hygiene program in Boise gain the skills and knowledge to provide comprehensive dental hygiene care. Instruction helps students develop professional communication skills with patients, colleagues and the public, as well as knowledge of ethical standards and professional behavior.

Health Studies

This online degree option conferred by the Boise campus is designed to help students who earn their associate degree. This program is for students who have earned a certificate from an accredited institution with a minimum of 24 semester credit hours and at least a 2.0 GPA applicable to a health-related program. Our online Health Studies program in Boise may provide greater flexibility to those who want to continue working while they complete their degree.

Massage Therapy

Help clients with the healing power of touch. Massage therapists soothe aching muscles, stretch knots, and relieve pressure through therapeutic massage. Massage therapists work in an array of settings, such as spas, franchised clinics, physicians’ offices, hotels and fitness centers. Some massage therapists also travel to clients’ homes or offices to give a massage. Others work out of their own homes. Clients view the massage experience as a positive contribution to their overall health. Carrington College’s Massage Therapy program in Boise helps you prepare for this exciting career.

Medical Billing and Coding

If you would like to stay more behind the scenes in a medical setting, medical billing and coding may be right for you. Medical billers and coders help process electronic health records and bills that need to be sent to insurance carriers. Medical billers and coders play a vital role in healthcare because they make sure doctors, nurses and other professionals get paid. Our Medical Billing and Coding program in Boise helps prepare students to document and code information for patient records and billing purposes.

*This program is available in a Blended Online Format.

Nursing Bridge

If you are a licensed practical nurse (LPN) who is looking to advance your career, you may consider our Nursing Bridge program in Boise. Nursing Bridge programs take LPNs, who already have formal nursing training, and teach them the skills they need to obtain licensure as registered nurses (RNs). The result of this program is an associate degree in Nursing Bridge.

Practical Nursing

Practical nurses are generalists who care for patients and work in many health care areas. They provide basic bedside care, measure and record patients’ vital signs and assist with bathing, dressing and personal hygiene in nursing homes, physicians’ offices or in patients’ homes. Depending on the location in which they work, practical nurses may also develop care plans and supervise the care provided by nursing aides.
